Creamy Bowtie Pasta is a delicious dish that is created using herbs and simple spices that you have in your pantry. The unique shape and design of the bowtie pasta is created with the purpose of the sauce to cling to the ridges and folds of the pasta. Bowtie pasta is also called farfalle and it means butterfly in Italian.
Oregano and parsley were used in the creation of the creamy sauce. Both herbs have distinctive flavors. When you take your first bite of this Bowtie Creamy Pasta, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the parsley and oregano.
The richness of the creamy sauce is enhanced by the earthy warmth of the oregano and the parsley. Oregano has a peppery aroma with a subtle hint of mint. Parsley, on the other hand has citrus undertones. The heaviness of the oregano is balanced with the freshness of the parsley. Each component works in harmony to deliver a dish that is both comforting and sophisticated.

Tomato paste adds a depth of flavor and a subtle sweetness, Garlic cloves and onion evokes a pungency that is sharp and spicy, Heavy cream adds richness and can be substituted with half and half or sour cream, Black Olives adds a vinegary tanginess to the dish, Bowtie Pasta also known as farfalle can be substituted with Penne, fusili or macaroni pasta.
What makes this creamy bowtie pasta an incredible dish is its versatility. It can be adapted to dietary preferences. Consider adding dairy-free cream such as tofu or tempeh for a vegan option.
Prepare the ingredients: Finely chop the garlic cloves, onion and fresh parsley. Also, add 1.5 litres in a pot and bring it to boil in order to cook the pasta. Follow the instructions written on the pasta packet for the duration of cooking time. When the pasta is cooked make sure to reserve some pasta water, which will be added to the pasta sauce.
Cook the aromatics: Preheat a pan to medium low heat. Drizzle two tablespoon of olive oil. Add the garlic and onion, and sauté for two minute. Then, add the fresh parsley and oregano, and spices like paprika, nutmeg, dried parsley, dried oregano, ground white pepper and salt.
Cook the creamy sauce: Add the tomato paste, one tablespoon of olive oil and cook the spice mixture for three minutes. Thereafter, add the cooking cream, two tablespoons of cooked pasta water, and simmer the creamy sauce for ten minutes on low heat with a semi-closed lid. The sauce will begin to thicken so make sure to stir well during the simmering process.
Mix the bowtie pasta and Creamy sauce: Add the bowtie pasta into the creamy sauce and coat the pasta by gently stirring. Cook the creamy bowtie pasta for five minutes on the lowest heat. This step will ensure that the pasta absorbs the flavour of the creamy sauce and further thickens the sauce. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or oregano to serve.
Add sauteed chicken breast to create a protein version. Add vegetables such as a bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and zucchini for a burst of color.
Serve alongside a Simple Green Salad or Kale Salad. Other options included Grilled Cauliflower, or Asparagus.

Make sure to adjust the temperature to the lowest when you are cooking the bowtie pasta with the creamy sauce. This will prevent the pasta from overcooking and the consistency of the pasta should be al dente. Reserve some of the pasta water to add into the sauce.
The starch from the pasta water keeps the sauce thick by emulsifying the fat from the sauce, which results in a smooth and unified sauce. The starch released from the pasta water also allows the sauce to adhere to the pasta, which makes the pasta have more depth in flavor. It is best to serve the pasta immediately, once the creamy sauce is infused with the pasta.
