Have you ever tried Greek-style chicken? If not, you’re in for a treat! This dish features chicken marinated in orange and lemon juice, which enhances the flavors, along with black olives and onions.

This Greek-style chicken recipe celebrates Mediterranean flavors. Fresh lemon juice and orange juice brighten the chicken while adding depth to the dish. A light seasoning of salt, oregano, and pepper ties everything together. When baked, it creates a remarkable combination of tastes, providing an unparalleled culinary experience.
Chicken thighs, Garlic cloves, Lemon juice, Orange juice, Onion, Cherry tomatoes, Olives, Baby Potatoes, Ground black pepper, Dried Thyme, Dried Oregano.
Keeping the skin on the chicken ensures that it remains crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. You can substitute lime juice for lemon juice. Interestingly, one of the standout ingredients in this dish is the onions. They caramelize and soak up the flavors of the orange and lemon juice, creating a sweet and tangy taste with a slight sharpness. If you love onions, feel free to double the amount in the recipe. You can also use a white onion instead of a red onion if needed.
The baby potatoes crisp up nicely on the edges, while the black olives add a briny, tangy flavor that contrasts beautifully with the citrus elements. Kalamata olives are used in Greek cooking, but if they’re not available at your supermarket, black or green olives are excellent substitutes. For a creamy touch, consider adding cubes of feta cheese.
Peel the red onion and garlic cloves. Slice the red onions and garlic thinly. Squeeze the juice of one lemon and one orange into a bowl.

Wash the chicken thighs, and add them to the baking tray. Add the sliced onion and garlic cloves. Add the lemon and orange juice to the baking tray. Add the baby potatoes to the baking tray.

If you want to reduce the cooking time by a few minutes, you can cut the baby potatoes in half. Slice the baby tomatoes and add them to the tray, along with the black olives. Place the tray in the fridge and marinate the ingredients for thirty minutes.

Add the baking tray to the oven and bake the Greek-style chicken at 160 °C (320 °F) for 40 to 45 minutes. During baking, baste the chicken with the juices 1 to 2 times to keep it moist.

Whilst in the baking tray, drizzle the top of the chicken with some of the tray’s juices; they are full of flavor and will add moisture to the chicken. Resting the chicken will allow the juices to redistribute, keeping it juicy on the inside. Add the chicken to the plate, and sprinkle more black pepper on top. A few slices of orange will add a pop of color. The Greek-style chicken is ready to serve and enjoy. This delicious dish is a perfect meal for the weekend.
There are many dishes that will complement this Greek-style chicken. Consider serving with a salad alongside this dish. This recipe pairs well with a Greek Salad, Tzatziki, or warm pita bread. You can also serve it with a Rocket and Red pepper salad.
Allow the chicken to cool completely. Place the chicken in an airtight container and refrigerate for 2 to 4 days. Make sure to keep that citrusy liquid in the container as well. The flavors will meld into the chicken as it rests in the fridge. It is not recommended to freeze this recipe; the lemon and orange flavors will mellow.
