Why Is It So Popular?

This dish is made from a handful of pantry staples and spices, resulting in an intensely flavorful meal. It requires minimal effort, as most of the cooking is done in the oven. You can easily enhance and customize the recipe by adding your choice of spices, herbs, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Feta cheese and cherry tomatoes, Salt and Ground White pepper, Dried Oregano, Paprika Powder, Brown Sugar, Dried Basil, Bowtie pasta, Extra virgin olive oil and Garlic .

Feta cheese is known for its creaminess. Many people are unaware that it melts beautifully when baked. When tomatoes are ripe, they release their natural juices during roasting, adding a subtle acidity to the dish. The cherry tomatoes add a burst of tangy sweetness. The blend of spices elevates the dish, adding layers of warmth and depth. Salt and white pepper are essential ingredients. Paprika powder adds a smokiness, and brown sugar adds sweetness to the tomatoes. Garlic adds a pungent flavour, making the dish bolder, more fragrant, and satisfying. For pasta, we’ve chosen bowtie pasta, also known as farfalle. Alternatively, you can choose other pastas, such as Penne, Fusilli, or macaroni.

Instructions

Rinse the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half. Rinse the garlic cloves and mince them. Preheat the oven to 200ºC / 400ºF. Gather the spices, such as paprika, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and ground white pepper, into a small bowl. Add the cherry tomatoes to a casserole dish, drizzle extra-virgin olive oil, and add garlic and spices. Toss gently to coat the cherry tomatoes with the oil and spices.

Arrange the cherry tomatoes in a single layer on the casserole. Thereafter, push the tomatoes aside to make room for the feta cheese. Coat the feta with the seasoning and oil, then bake for twenty minutes. By this time, while the feta cheese is baking, bring water to a boil and cook the bowtie pasta. Follow the instructions on the pasta packet. When the pasta is cooked, drain it and set it aside. Mash the baked ingredients with a fork.

Press all the cherry tomatoes so the juicy bits ooze out. Mash all the feta cheese as well for a more uniform flavour. Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the casserole with baked feta cheese and cherry tomatoes. Gently toss to coat the bowtie pasta with delicious flavours. Adjust the salt and pepper to your taste.

How do you Store Baked Feta Cheese Pasta?

Store in an airtight container for two to three days. Reheat in the microwave or stove. Freeze for two months—Defrost on the countertop and reheat in the microwave.

What to Serve with Baked Feta Cheese Pasta?

Expert Tips

When preparing your dish, opt for block feta cheese instead of crumbled feta. Crumbled feta can dry out and potentially burn during baking. Additionally, select feta cheese with lower salt content. To enhance the cheese’s flavor, season the block of feta with olive oil and your choice of spices before baking. Choosing the right tomatoes is crucial for this recipe; cherry tomatoes, with their natural sweetness, will elevate the dish’s overall flavor. Add one of the following proteins, chicken, shrimp, or salami, to the Baked Feta Cheese Pasta for a more satisfying meal. Other cheese options for feta include ricotta or goat cheese. Add more veggies such as zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, bell peppers, or spinach for extra nutrients.
