It uses simple ingredients and is convenient to prepare when you are short on time. And, in case you’re wondering, this recipe comes together in 15 minutes, which means that it is perfect for movie night.

This recipe is also quite versatile. You can add sauteed vegetables, scrambled eggs, chicken, tofu, or shrimp. So feel free to use your imagination when creating this incredible dish. Let’s get cooking!

What types of noodles do you recommend for this recipe?

Fried noodles are prepared using wheat, rice, and various other grains. If you’ve purchased noodle brands in the past, you’re probably familiar with them already. Fried noodles are popular in Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian dishes. Think of Indomie noodles; those are fried noodles.

Note: You will not need the seasoning in the Ramen noodle packet. Do not use egg noodles unless they are thin. Thick egg noodles will not pair well with the marinade used in this recipe.

You can purchase any pack of noodles from the supermarket and use them for this recipe. You can also buy plain instant noodles.

Ingredients to make Soy Sauce Noodles

Fried noodles, Garlic Cloves, Onion, Carrot, Dark soy sauce, Rice Vinegar, Leeks, Black Bean paste, Sugar, Sesame seed oil.

Fried noodles are integral to this recipe. For a truly authentic soy sauce noodles recipe, they cannot be swapped out for other types of noodles. Also, Fried noodles are easy to access; there are many popular noodle brands that sell them with seasoning powder.

We’re not using the seasoning packet in this recipe; we’re creating something unique and completely different in this dish. In this soy sauce noodles recipe, we create an unusual marinade that will completely surprise you. The flavors are out of this world. Think of rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame seed oil. All of these ingredients will create an umami experience.

We are also caramelizing a small piece of onion, some leeks, and a carrot to add texture and flavor to this dish.

Two excellent brands of soy sauce are Yamamori Dark Soy Sauce and Lee Kum Kee Dark Soy Sauce. When it comes to rice vinegar, it is best to avoid regular white vinegar, as the flavor will be very sharp and tart. A suitable substitute will be apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar.

Rice wine vinegar does not contain wine or alcohol. Despite its confusing name, it is made similarly to rice wine. However, rice wine undergoes a second fermentation process, which means the alcohol turns into acetic vinegar.

Instructions

Prepare the ingredients: Clean the aromatics, such as the onion, garlic, and green leeks; mince the garlic cloves, slice the onion, and set them aside.

Prepare the marinade sauce: In a bowl, add Oyster sauce, Sesame seed oil, Dark soy sauce, Rice vinegar, Brown sugar, and Sesame seed oil, and mix them.

Expert tips for making the perfect Soy sauce noodles

Add the noodles to the boiling water and stir to completely submerge them. Leave a little bit of water when draining to prevent the noodles from sticking to each other. When the noodles are cooked, add them directly to the sauce rather than letting them rest after draining the water. This will allow the sauce to absorb into the noodles immediately.

How do you store and reheat the soy sauce noodles?

Allow the noodles to cool before storing them in the fridge. Soy sauce noodles are quick and easy to prepare when you are short on time. We don’t recommend freezing this recipe. You can cook the aromatics, such as the leeks, onions, carrots, and garlic. Thereafter, store them in a container in the fridge.

This step is helpful if you’re busy. To reheat the soy sauce noodles, add them to a wok or pan on medium-low heat. You can also reheat the noodles in the microwave.

What can you Serve with Soy Sauce Noodles?

Consider serving a simple salad alongside the soy sauce noodles, such as crunchy cucumber salad, Buchu kimchi, or spring onion kimchi.

Do you cook noodles like pasta?

Cooking noodles is similar to cooking pasta. The basic idea of preparing both is quite alike. Boil the water, add salt, add noodles, and drain the water. However, the boiling time for noodles will be less than the boiling time for pasta. Usually, the cooking time required for pasta is 8 to 12 minutes, while the cooking time for fried noodles is 2 to 4 minutes.

Follow the instructions on the packet, as noodles require different cooking times. It is also important not to overcook the fried noodles; doing so will produce a mushy texture. To add moisture to the noodles, add butter or reserve some starchy water to rehydrate them.

Can I use Beef in this recipe?

Using Beef will add additional flavour to this dish. The best Beef cuts in this dish are ribeye, chuck, sirloin, or rump. These cuts are flavourful and tender, making them easy to eat with the noodles.
