Fresh Green Beans, Olive Oil or Butter, Garlic, Oyster sauce, Salt, Brown Sugar and Pepper.
Olive oil and butter add a subtle fruitiness and beautifully complement the spices. When melted, butter adds a rich, nutty flavor that warms the dish. Garlic provides a bold and pungent heat, and when sautéed, it infuses the oil and butter with its aroma, creating a savory flavour for the dish. Oyster sauce adds an umami-rich flavor, elevating the overall taste. Soy sauce and hoisin offer a unique twist, while salt, brown sugar, and pepper keep the seasoning simple.
Finely mince the garlic. In a pan, add olive oil and then the minced garlic. Set the stove to medium-low heat. Cook the garlic until it caramelizes, which will take about two minutes for it to brown. Once the garlic is browned, remove it from the heat and set it aside. Use the caramelized garlic as a garnish on top of your dish.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly, then sauté for a few more minutes. This will help the spices and oyster sauce fully coat the beans. Continue sautéing until the vegetables begin to char at the edges.

Be sure to squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice on top. It enhances the flavor of this dish. The combination of caramelized green beans and the citrus flavor is fantastic.
This side dish is so versatile. It can be paired with many main dishes, such as Grilled Lamb, Grilled Chicken, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, or Baked Fish.
Store in an airtight container for two to three days. Ensure that it has cooled down before freezing. Thereafter, place it in a container and freeze. To consume again, thaw and reheat on the stovetop or microwave.
Choosing fresh green beans is key to creating a delicious side dish. Avoid green beans that are spotty and lacking firmness. To ensure the green beans are easy to eat, trim the ends to prevent biting on the tough ends. You want the pan to be sufficiently hot so your green beans are on the hot surface for the required time. A proper sear ensures a tastier side dish. To increase the flavour, consider squeezing lemon or lime juice. Topping with toasted nuts and sprinkling Parmesan cheese can add extra flavour. Avoid overcrowding the pan. With too many beans in the pan, they risk steaming rather than sautéing, resulting in a mushy texture.
