Affogato is an Italian dessert that embodies the essence of Italian cuisine. Made with a combination of hot espresso, vanilla ice cream, & chocolate syrup, this dessert is an interesting medley of flavors that are sophisticated and decadent to enjoy on a hot summer day.

The interesting thing about this dessert is that you don’t have to enjoy it in a bowl; you can make a regular espresso, pour it into a large mug with some chocolate syrup and a huge dollop of ice cream.

Choose your favorite vanilla ice-cream to make the affogato, there is little difference between the vanilla ice-cream brands apart from the cream ratio, choose full-fat for the best tasting dessert. Use high-quality coffee beans for the best experience.
Coffee beans come in an array of flavours, choose the ones with hints of chocalate and fudge like-flavours. Consider coffee beans from Colombia, Brazil and Indonesia. Medium-dark roast coffee beans have a caramel flavour. When it comes to Affogato, look for chocalate sauces with a thin viscosity.
Begin by brewing a cup of espresso. You can use an espresso machine, a moka pot, or a French press. The creaminess of the ice cream, along with the strong flavor of the coffee, balances out one another beautifully. You can add hot fudge, salted caramel sauce, pretzels, strawberries, or cherries to Affogato.

Suppose you are making this dessert for a large crowd. You can scoop the vanilla ice cream into the serving glasses, add the chocolate syrup, and place them in the fridge. Pour the hot espresso when you are ready to serve the dessert.
