Instructions
The Veggies: Prepare the fresh ingredients by finely chopping the onion into cubes and mincing the garlic cloves. Cut the tomatoes into chunky pieces. Preheat the pot to medium-high heat. Drizzle the olive oil and add butter. Add the onion and garlic cloves and sauté for 2 minutes. Blend the tomatoes in a blender while the onion and garlic are cooking.
Cook the sauce: Transfer the blended tomatoes into the pot. Add bay leaves, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, water, basil, oregano, thyme, paprika powder, brown sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then simmer for 30 minutes on low heat. Remove the basil leaves and use an immersion blender to blend the marinara sauce. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve with the pasta.
