1Onion- Large, sliced
4Garlic cloves- Sliced
Spicy Korean Sauce
2tspGochugaru
1½tbspOyster sauce
1tspDark soy sauce
1tspSesame seed oil
3tspLime or Lemon juice
2tbspTomato paste
3tspRice vinegar- Or Apple Cider Vinegar.
Instructions
Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat, sautéing the onion and garlic until the garlic caramelizes.
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, lime juice, gochugaru, gochujang, and tomato paste to create the sauce. Add it to the onions and garlic, stirring until it bubbles, and the flavours meld.
Incorporate the calamari and let the sauce thicken for 2 minutes, adding three tablespoons of water as needed. Stir in rice cakes if desired, increase the heat to medium, and cook for 5 minutes until the calamari is tender. Finish with sesame oil, stir well, and serve.
