Rinse the Rice: Rinse the basmati rice in a fine mesh strainer two to four times until the water is clear. Soak the rice for thirty minutes, this will create a more tender and fluffier rice. (Optional)
Cook the Rice: Drain the rice, boil the water and add a tiny pinch of salt. Add the rice, reduce the temperature of the stove to the lowest setting. Cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes. After the time is up, check if the water has evaporated, if it has, then remove the pot of the heat. Turn the stove off. And let any remaining water evaporate for ten minutes. Add ghee or butter and stir at the end. Fluff up the rice and serve.
